WORC believes there is a need to build long-term,
multi-issue,
membership-based, community organizations.
These local institutions:
- Develop local leadership
- Create long-term institutional change
- Challenge perceptions of economic and social forces within communities
- Expand knowledge of complicated social and economic issues
- Increase understanding of the local cultureor local cultureswithin
communities
Strong community organizations also provide a balance
to hold corporate and government officials accountable for their
decisions and actions.
To be a long-term, strong, and effective organization,
groups need ongoing support. WORC helps this process by providing
training workshops for staff, members, and allies.
