WORC Statement on H.R. 6 by Peggy Utesch
“We are gratified by today’s U.S. Senate action rejecting subsidies and incentives for liquid coal plants. Our tax dollars should be invested in the cleanest, most productive, fastest steps we can take to reduce our dependence on foreign oil – increased fuel efficiency and renewable fuels. We can replace foreign oil more quickly and cleanly, create more jobs and opportunities for farmers and ranchers, at less cost to taxpayers, with biofuels plants that turn crops and biomass into biodiesel and cellulosic ethanol.”
