We design these e-mail alerts with suggested text and provide information about the issue and action. Participants, however, are able to add or change the text to voice opinions in their own words.

Urge Your Representative to Support Renewable Energy

In 2007, we have an exciting opportunity to finally pass a national Renewable Electricity Standard ( RES). Representative Tom Udall (D-NM) has introduced a bill, HR 969, that would require utilities to generate or buy 20 percent of their energy from clean, renewable sources by 2020.

Endorse Petition to Make Energy Industry Reclaim Land
and Pay Costs

1. The Oil and Gas Industry Responsibility Petition would require the oil and gas industry to reclaim land damaged by drilling and to provide financial assurance bonds to protect taxpayers and landowners from restoration costs.
   
   The Natural Resources Defense Council, WORC and four of its member groups (Dakota Resource Council, Northern Plains Resource Council, Powder River Basin Resource Council, and Western Colorado Congress) , and the New Mexico Wildlife Federation submitted a rulemaking petition with the U.S. Bureau of Land Management on May 31, 2006.
