WeCAN makes college energy efficient Western
Colorado Action Network (WeCAN) leader, Jessica Shaw, addresses the crowd
at a press event head at Mesa State College January 30th to celebrate the
completion of WeCAN’s two year campaign to install western Colorado’s
largest collegiate photovoltaic solar system on the Science building at
MSC in Grand Junction. WeCAN members raised over $100,000 by writing grants, grassroots fundraising, corporate donations, Xcel Energy’s rebate program and even hosting bake sales on campus. WeCAN continues to make positive changes for the MSC campus, this year students are working with the facilities department at the college to switch out all campus cleaning products with ‘green’ cleaning supplies that aren’t harmful to human health and the environment. |
